The present study aimed to examine the psychometric properties of the Academic Grit Scale among high school students in Tehran. This descriptive survey research was conducted on a female high school students from the second educational district of Tehran’s Region 14 during the 2023-2024 academic year. A total of 358 students were selected using the convenience sampling method. To determine the reliability of the instrument, two methods were employed: internal consistency and test-retest reliability. Cronbach’s alpha coefficients for the subscales of Consistency of Interest and Grit in Effort were 0.80 and 0.84, respectively, indicating satisfactory reliability. The test-retest correlation coefficients for the Consistency of Interest and Grit in Effort subscales were 0.79 and 0.75 (P ≤ 0.01), respectively. To assess convergent and divergent validity, the Academic Self-Regulation Questionnaire and Academic Procrastination Questionnaire were utilized. The divergent validity correlation coefficients for the Consistency of Interest and Grit in Effort subscales were 0.29 (P ≤ 0.05) and 0.40 (P ≤ 0.01), respectively. The convergent validity coefficients for these subscales were -0.37 and 0.63 (P ≤ 0.01), respectively. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the Academic Grit Scale is a reliable and valid tool for assessing academic Grit among high school students. This instrument can be effectively utilized in educational settings to identify students who require support and motivation enhancement. Additionally, academic counselors and teachers can employ this scale to design intervention programs aimed at improving students' academic Grit.
