Background and Objectives: The purpose of the present study was to investigate the role of academic engagement and flourishing in predicting the academic excitements of high school female students in Mashhad. As the type of the excitement plays a key role on students' academic achievement, identifying the effective factors on the academic excitements is essential.
Methodology: The method used in this research was descriptive correlational. The statistical population of consists of all female high school students studying in the second semester in the school year of 1394-1395 in Mashhad. The sample consisted of 320 students selected by multi-stage cluster random sampling. Mashhad was divided into four directions: North, South, East, and West. From each direction, a high school was selected, and from each high school four classes of 20 students were selected. Data were gathered through an Academic Excitement Questionnaire (AEQ) (Pkran et al., 2002), Flourishing Scale (Diener & Biswas, 2008) and Academic Engagement Irnventory (Gonius and Kozo 2015). Data were analyzed by descriptive statistical tests, Pearson Correlation Coefficient, and multiple regression tests.
Results: The results showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between academic engagement and flourishing with positive academic excitements (P <0.001). Furthermore, the results of multiple regression showed that 48% of the variance in total academic excitement was explained by academic engagement and flourishin. Discussion and Conclusion: By enhancing the academic engagement and efflorescence, and promoting positive affection, well-being, and happiness, it is likely that the students' positive academic excitement will also increase.
