Abstract

Entrepreneurship is recognized as a fundamental driver of economic development, innovation, and social progress. Accordingly, fostering entrepreneurial passion among university students, particularly those majoring in entrepreneurship, is of significant importance. The present study aims to analyze the factors influencing the development of entrepreneurial passion from the perspective of self-efficacy among entrepreneurship students at the Faculty of Management and Economics, University of Sistan and Baluchestan. This research is exploratory in purpose and applied in nature, employing a mixed-methods (qualitative–quantitative) approach. In the qualitative phase, influential factors were identified through a comprehensive literature review and expert interviews using the Fuzzy Delphi technique. In the quantitative phase, the identified factors were prioritized through pairwise comparison questionnaires applying Fuzzy DEMATEL and Fuzzy AHP methods based on Chang’s extent analysis approach. The statistical population consisted of 15 academic and industry experts selected through purposive sampling. The findings revealed that entrepreneurial passion is influenced by four principal categories of factors: educational, individual, social, and environmental. Among educational factors, academic education obtained the highest priority. Within individual factors, entrepreneurial spirit was identified as the most significant determinant. Regarding environmental factors, recognition of environmental opportunities and infrastructural support were ranked highest. Finally, among social factors, cultural beliefs and cultural infrastructure exerted the strongest influence. The results underscore the necessity of adopting a comprehensive and integrated approach in designing entrepreneurship education policies and programs in higher education institutions. Strengthening self-efficacy beliefs alongside structured academic training can significantly enhance students’ entrepreneurial passion and readiness for venture creation.
