[English]

The aim of the present study was to investigate the effectiveness of strengths-based school counseling on career adaptability, academic vitality, and academic engagement among female upper secondary school students. The research method was quasi-experimental with a pretest–posttest control group design. The statistical population included all female upper secondary school students in District 2 of Tehran during the 2023–2024 academic year. From this population, 40 female students were selected using convenience sampling and were randomly assigned to an experimental group (n = 20) and a control group (n = 20). The experimental group received the strengths-based school counseling intervention based on the Gladding and Cox (2007) protocol, while the control group received no intervention. The research instruments included the Career Adapt-Abilities Scale developed by Savickas and Porfeli (2012), the Academic Vitality Scale by Dehghanizadeh et al. (2012), and the Academic Engagement Scale by Wang et al. (2011). After examining the statistical assumptions, the data were analyzed using Multivariate Analysis of Covariance (MANCOVA). The findings indicated that, after controlling for pretest effects, there were significant differences between the experimental and control groups in career adaptability, academic vitality, and academic engagement (p ≤ 0.001). Furthermore, the results of univariate analyses showed that strengths-based school counseling led to significant increases in all three variables in the experimental group. The results of the present study suggest that strengths-based school counseling can be considered an effective and preventive intervention in the school setting,
